What’s New in greehill Trees

Smarter tree workflows: bulk edits, better maps, faster point clouds

What’s new in greehill Trees and why you’ll feel it immediately

January 2026 edition

The latest product releases focus on one theme: less friction, more confidence. Whether you’re inspecting trees in the field, managing a team, or exporting data for planners and consultants, the latest releases bring upgrades that save time, strengthen decision-making, and make your organization’s tree data easier to maintain at scale in ghTrees.

November 2025 Product Release Highlights: clarity and speed in day-to-day tree work

Estimated values are now clearly labeled: Faster decisions with fewer assumptions and fewer “how accurate is this?” follow-ups.

Tree data is only useful when people understand its confidence level. Trunk diameter now displays estimated values with a clear visual indicator in both the trees table and tree details—so you can trust what you’re seeing and communicate accuracy with confidence.

  • Reduces misinterpretation during reporting and QA/QC

  • Helps teams separate “measured” vs “estimated” at a glance

  • Improves transparency when sharing results with stakeholders

ESTIMATED VALUE INDICATOR: “ESTIMATED MEASUREMENTS ARE NOW CLEARLY LABELED”

Bulk editing for administrators: Fix or update hundreds of records in minutes, not hours.

Admins can now edit multiple tree-related fields across many trees at once after selecting them in the table. This is a major speed boost for standardization, cleanup, and seasonal updates.

  • Big time savings for data maintenance and program updates

  • More consistency across neighborhoods, crews, contractors, and audits

  • Less manual work, fewer errors

Better inspection navigation with satellite view and device orientation: Less second-guessing in the field, smoother inspections, fewer missed trees.

On the inspection navigation page, users can switch from 2D map to satellite view and see their device direction via an orientation funnel, making it easier to stay aligned and confirm you’re on the right tree.

  • Faster “am I looking at the right tree?” confirmation, especially in dense corridors

  • Easier navigation when addresses are messy or spacing is tight

  • Better situational awareness without stopping to re-orient

INSPECTION NAVIGATION: “SWITCH TO SATELLITE VIEW AND USE THE ORIENTATION FUNNEL TO STAY ALIGNED DURING INSPECTIONS.”

Wind-risk visibility in the Trees table and exports: Turn complex stability insight into a sortable, filterable workflow.

Two stability metrics are now available in the column selector, filters, and CSV export: Trunk Stability Index (referencing your organization’s default wind-speed standard; defaults to 80 km/h) and Critical Wind Speed.

  • Faster prioritization for inspections, mitigation, and response planning

  • Stronger filtering for “show me what matters right now” triage

  • Easier reporting for resilience, risk, and operational planning

Custom layer uploads that scale better: Bring more context into your map without fighting file limits.

Uploading custom layers now perform better for organizations with many trees, supporting larger files and more reliable uploads, so your maps can carry a more operational and planning context.

  • Smoother integration of partner data, boundaries, work zones, and overlays

  • Less waiting, fewer failed uploads

  • Better scalability as inventories grow

October 2025 Product Release Highlights: admin control, faster performance, richer exports

Easier user management with delete and reactivate: Keep the right people in—remove the rest—without admin headaches.

You can now delete users from your organization to keep your roster clean and reactivate previously deactivated users to adapt quickly to staffing changes.

  • Better security hygiene and access governance

  • Cleaner admin experience for seasonal teams or contractor waves

  • Faster onboarding when someone returns

Faster point cloud loading: Data rich loading feels lighter, so teams stay in flow. Point clouds now load more efficiently in ghTrees, reducing downtime and improving the day-to-day experience for analysts and reviewers.

  • Less waiting during review and QA

  • Faster interpretation and verification

  • Better performance on real-world connections and devices

Enhanced shapefile exports with scientific and common names: Exports are more “done” the moment they leave ghTrees.

Shapefile exports now include scientific and common names, giving GIS users more complete data the moment it leaves ghTrees.

  • Better interoperability with city GIS systems and consultant workflows

  • Cleaner mapping and reporting without manual joins

  • Faster analysis for species planning, diversity, and policy needs

More consistent settings and an updated help panel: Everything feels more intuitive, especially when you’re moving fast.

Settings pages now follow a uniform layout, and the help panel aligns with the latest ghTrees version. The support widget also pre-fills Organization and Application fields to streamline support requests.

  • Faster admin navigation and fewer “where is that setting?” moments

  • Better self-serve help and faster support resolution

  • Less friction for new users learning ghTrees

Who benefits most from these updates

  • Field inspectors: quicker navigation, fewer mistakes, better context in real time

  • Program managers and admins: bulk edits and cleaner user governance at scale

  • Urban forestry analysts and GIS teams: faster point clouds and more complete exports

  • Leadership and stakeholders: clearer confidence indicators and stronger risk metrics for prioritization
